At the heart of St Vincents & Mater Health Sydney (SV&MHS) is Mission Comprising of the Mission Office, Pastoral Care, Chaplaincy and Volunteers, the Mission Office works closely with the National Office of the St Vincent's Health Australia to ensure that Mission is integrated into the governance, leadership, management, care delivery and research within our organisation. It contributes to staff programs such as; orientation, mandatory training, leadership development, staff retreat programs, liturgy, feast days, service recognition, as well as playing an important role in facilitating ethical workplace policies.
Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy For many patients, the time they spend in hospital is a time they are more likely to experience vulnerability and uncertainty. This is not only reflected in their physical condition but also in the emotional and spiritual journey. The Ministry of Pastoral Care provides patients with carers who walk the journey with them. Chaplaincy services are integral to the care and ministry provided by SV&MHS. Catholic Chaplains are provided at all facilities in addition to visiting multi-denominational support.
